Compress Image to 500 KB

Compress an image to 500 KB

The preset uses the decimal upload limit 500 KB = 500,000 bytes and verifies the actual result—an unchanged original or generated output—before reporting a pass.

Compression and exact byte verification happen in this browser without uploading the image.

Upload requirements

Maximum file size
Decimal units: 1 KB = 1,000 bytes; 1 MB = 1,000,000 bytes.

Images keep their aspect ratio and are never enlarged.

Output format

A verified 500,000-byte boundary

The workflow checks the actual generated Blob. An unchanged original or generated output passes only when it is no larger than 500,000 bytes; the closest supported over-limit result is marked unmet.

Size targeting does not silently change dimensions or format. Add dimension bounds or choose another format only when you explicitly want those changes.

Examples

Online forms and profile images

Prepare an image for an online form or profile image field that accepts no more than 500,000 bytes.

Compress Image to 500 KB FAQ

Does 500 KB mean a decimal 500,000-byte maximum?

Yes. This preset targets 500,000 bytes; the separate file-selection protection uses binary MiB.

What happens if the output is still above 500,000 bytes?

The closest supported result above 500,000 bytes is marked unmet rather than passed and remains downloadable.
